Poem: I Wait For You

I wait for you.
I wait for you to call me.
I wait for you.
I wait for you to say you’re hungry.
I wait for you.
I wait for you to have an opinion.
I wait for you.
I wait for you to start the music.
I wait for you.
I wait for you to want to go walking.
I wait for you.
I wait for you to smile.
I wait for you to play.
I wait for you to open the door.
I wait for you to say.

I close the door, and breathe in the silence.
The darkness surrounds me. I listen to the breathing in the room.
I close the door, and touch my own arm.
I’m here. It’s me.

I walk away.
